About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Mainline to develop, maintain and improve the Mainline Service Train operations. To provide safe and efficient operations and execute Service Train requirements to maintain the health of the rail network.

This role is a great opportunity to join a large scale rail operation and oversee a highly skilled team in the successful delivery of operational and service activities. Working a 7 days on, 7 nights on, 14 days off roster and reporting to the Superintendent Operations Mainline, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Managing equipment provided to the team in support of their activities and ensure appropriate allocation of resources to achieve planned and unplanned recovery outcomes
  • Development, review and update procedures and training documentation for all areas of work
  • Achieve safety and environmental performance as per targets and facilitate the achievement of direct report's KPI's
  • Monitor and measure team performance to ensure that safety, production and cost targets are met
  • Assist the Superintendent Mainline Operations in the successful operations and Service Train requirements
  • Make sure the budget is managed in accordance with the plan and deliver improvements through LEAN and other improvement initiatives

About you

To be positively considered for this role, you will have:
  • Sound knowledge of Rail Operations requirements
  • Experience in bulk materials handling sector or related industry, particularly related to an operational work environment.
  • Leadership experience managing direct reports
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, SAP & other information systems (e.g. HIROD, EAS)
  • Effective planning and time management skills

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Frontline management qualification or similar
  • Experience in Rail construction and renewals
  • Service Train experience, including Fuel Train, Ballast Train and Rail Train operations

Where you will be working

Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 15 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile), each train comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.4 kilometres in length with over 50 trains operating per day. Service Trains including Ballast, Rail and Fuel operate to maintain the health of the Railway. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.

Rail

We operate 200 locomotives on more than 1,700 kilometres of track in the Pilbara, transporting ore from 16 mines to four port terminals. The average return distance of these trains is about 800 kilometres with the average journey cycle, including loading and dumping, taking approximately 40 hours.
