We are looking for multiple Supervisor Operations to lead and develop a high performing team whilst fostering a strong safety culture and building capabilities. This includes supervision of operational personnel and accountability for area resources. The Supervisors' main focus is to lead the safe, efficient and sustainable production of Aluminum.

This role is a great opportunity for a safety-oriented and enthusiastic leader to drive engagement and optimize operational performance in their respective area.

Reporting to the Superintendent Operations and working on a rotating 12-hour shift roster, which includes nights and weekends, you will be:
  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards actively leading, and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our "Zero harm" safety culture;
  • Communicating and coordinating with peers the appropriate operating conditions, expectations, and targets for efficient shift change/hand over
  • Identifying areas where improvement to safety performance is necessary and initiating this change within the appropriate teams and areas
  • Ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood and setting performance targets to encourage the necessary/desired behaviours
  • Taking ownership over efficient/effective problem solving, decision making, and action at the right levels
  • Leading with a genuine care for people
  • Participating in the continuous improvement of standards, policies and procedures

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of a valid Class 7 Provincial driver's license
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial setting: mining, processing, manufacturing or related field
  • Effective leadership skills: the ability to set direction, prioritize and achieve objectives, actively listen, and engage and motivate your team members
  • Clear, concise, and tactful communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Post-secondary training and education in Mining, processing, or a related field, is an asset
  • Leadership experience in a unionized environment is an asset
