We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Asset Management team, where they will collaborate with Operations and Maintenance by providing technical expertise and support in the areas of maintenance, reliability, engineering, field execution/supervision and projects.

Reporting to the Maintenance Engineering Superintendent and working a Monday to Friday schedule, you will be:
  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards actively leading, and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our "Zero harm" safety culture;
  • Reviewing design and operational tasks for job hazard analysis, performing risk assessments, and acting as a technical resource for safe work procedures;
  • Performing root cause analysis and defect eliminations to improve the reliability of the area's equipment;
  • Managing reliability improvement projects performed internally;
  • Applying asset management best practices and drive improvement initiatives;
  • Maintain and improve preventive and predictive maintenance program;
  • Improve maintenance tactics as per asset management guideline;
  • Responding and provide technical assistance to maintainers regarding electrical equipment problems;
  • Representing the area for projects performed by engineering group;
  • Technical support for equipment including low voltage power distribution, PLC's, and VFD's.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field;
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with APEGBC
  • P. Eng. Designation is preferred;
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in maintenance or asset management;
  • Excellent knowledge of industrial control systems and programming (i.e.: HMI, PLC & VFD);
  • Proficiency with SAP or similar CMMS program
  • Understanding of business improvement and maximizing value principles
  • Excellent leadership and communication
  • High voltage experience is an asset.
