We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our fixed plant engineering team at Hope Downs 1. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you will execute medium term improvement projects and provide technical assistance and advice on the effectiveness of maintenance practices, tactics and processes.

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, we own an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets: a world-class, integrated network of 16 mines, four independent port terminals, a 1,700-kilometre rail network and related infrastructure all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand. We are one of the world's leading producers and exporters of iron ore.
This position is based at our Hope Downs 1 site, working on a FIFO 5/2; 4/3 roster from Perth, Broome or Busselton. Located 100km north-west of Newman, Hope Downs 1 is a joint venture managed and operated by Rio Tinto, working in conjunction with nearby site Hope Downs 4. Hope Downs 1 provides exceptional career growth and opportunities, and the village provides excellent facilities for its FIFO workers.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our fixed plant engineering team at Hope Downs 1. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you will execute medium term improvement projects and provide technical assistance and advice on the effectiveness of maintenance practices, tactics and processes.
Reporting to the Fixed Plant Specialist, you will:
- Be the project leader and supervisor for capital and medium-term projects
- Actively drive a robust safety culture and processes through a strong in the field presence
- Collaborate with and provide technical support to the fixed plant maintenance and operations teams
- Develop and implement strategies and projects that optimise resources available for fixed plant assets and optimise overall performance of fixed plant assets
- Conduct analysis and action improvements for asset failures
- Manage change management processes relating to projects
What you'll bring
- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in management and delivery of projects
- A strong focus towards safety and safe work practises
- Experience leading safety and failure investigations and risk assessments
- The ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
- A 'C' class manual driver's licence
