About the role

We are looking for a Hydrogeologist to help manage our site's water resources, grow our groundwater monitoring and dewatering network, and support mine operations. Reporting to the Senior Hydrogeologist and working in collaborative community, a challenging and exciting environment and a diverse team within Mine Technical Services, you will be responsible for:
  • Helping to design studies to identify dewatering, depressurization, and monitoring requirements across a multiple active pits as well as greenfield locations
  • Providing technical and safety oversight of hydrogeological field programmes including drilling of piezometers, pilot wells, and large diameter dewatering wells
  • Compiling, validating, and quality assuring data for hydrogeologic model updates as well as internal and regulatory groundwater reporting
  • Analysing well and sump data to proactively identify pumping trends
  • Maintaining and updating cloud based hydrogeology database
  • Monitoring and reviewing effectiveness of dewatering and water management strategies in meeting short, medium, and long-range mine planning goals
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal stakeholders

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Earth Science or Geotechnical Engineering. Specialization in hydrogeology preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in hydrogeology/hydrology in industry, government or consulting roles
  • A current C Class driver's license

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%.
