About the role

We are looking for an Occupational Health Nurse/Advisor to support Rio Tinto Pacific Operations in the provision of health and wellness services and injury management, alongside a team of health and hygiene professionals. Specifically supporting the co-ordination of the COVID-19 response across the RTA Pacific Operations.

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to assist in driving a strong health and wellbeing program.

Reporting to the RTA Health and Hygiene Global team and working in a collaborative community, you will:
  • Provide SME support for COVID19 across sites including management of the Antigen screening program, Vaccination program support, monitoring and adapting site controls to Government guidance;
  • Providing technical health support and guidance to the Operational Health and Hygiene site teams to manage and reduce health risk profiles;
  • Coordinating and delivering health and wellbeing promotion across sites;
  • Support and provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for implementation of best practice in health/ clinical matters across sites;
  • Coordinate health & safety reporting and assurance functions for HSE management system requirements (as needed);
  • Use technical knowledge to solve problems and recommend solutions;
  • Provide coaching/mentoring/guidance to Occupational Health Clinic staff.

What you will bring
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional registration
  • Experience in occupational health, preferably in mining, construction, or heavy industry
  • Relevant experience to the COVID-19 response, supporting the deployment vaccination and screening programs would be beneficial
  • Previous experience with return to work coordination/injury management skills
  • Experience with medical surveillance
  • Applied knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
  • An ability to work collaboratively and engage with variety of stakeholder to achieve desired outcomes.
  • A self-motivated work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Good computer skills (previous SAP and Cority use desirable)
  • Exceptional communication skills
