We are looking for a Contractor Management - Contract Owner, to manage the contractors who perform work at the Aluminum smelter site in Kitimat, BC. Contract Owner ensures that deliverables are met and in compliance with Rio Tinto standards and values. Contractor management at BC Works is strategic by the significant level of influence and management of change required to be successful across the site.

Reporting to the Contractor Management Coordinator and working a Monday to Friday schedule, you will be:
  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto health, environmental, safety and community (HSEC) standards actively leading and engaging in promoting our "Zero harm" culture.
  • Ensuring contractors work in accordance with Rio Tinto HSEC standards and permits, and participating in contractor safety engagements such a training, site access, inductions, and pre-start meetings for mobilization, etc.
  • Responsible for the compliance, use and promotion of the approved RT contractor management tools and best practices to obtain maximum efficiency and contractor productivity.
  • Ensure all incidents and accidents are reported, investigated and corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner leading investigations and audits as required.
  • Manage and support the supplier identification and selection process based on the scope of work, risk assessment, and supply contract.
  • Confirm schedule, quote/cost, and finalization of scope of work with Contractor and ensuring end users understand.
  • Set up key performance indicators for deliverables and monitor contractor performance on HSE, cost, productivity, schedule, and quality.
  • Perform leadership in the field and attend Contractor pre-shift meetings and other meetings where necessary.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma. A tertiary qualification in engineering, technology, trades, or related field will be considered an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience in an industrial or construction setting Supervisory and/or contractor management experience
  • Effective leadership skills: the ability to set direction, prioritize and achieve objectives, actively listen, and engage and motivate your team members.
  • Clear, concise, and tactful communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Project Management training or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) is an asset
