We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our Perth based Utilities Maintenance Engineering team. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced technical professional to take area ownership in identifying, prioritising, and executing sustaining and/or improvement projects for RTIO Utilities fleet of gas turbine engine generators, balance of plant and gas laterals.

Your enthusiastic approach coupled with your effective communication will see you work in teams of highly motivated individuals to solve our challenging problems. Youll have the ability to apply your engineering project management experience and technical knowledge to ensure end-to-end project delivery- safely, on time and with exceptional engagement with your varied stakeholders. Reporting to the Principal Advisor Gas & Generation, you will be:
  • Providing technical advice to the site engineering, maintenance, and operations teams
  • Leading safety improvement initiatives
  • Investigating failures and carrying out risk assessments
  • Managing site projects to optimise asset reliability, availability, and maintainability
  • Providing technical assistance for procurement of new assets / components
  • Supporting change management processes relating to gas turbine power generation, power station infrastructure and natural gas laterals
  • Promoting a culture of safety by developing and implementing strategies and projects that mitigate risks using hierarchy of control
  • Demonstrating the Rio Tinto values of courage, care, and curiosity

About you
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent field experience with gas turbine generator maintenance
  • Demonstrated project management skills with experience including project scoping, planning, execution and contractor management
  • An understanding of gas turbine power generation operations and maintenance
  • You will have an ability to effectively interact with operations personnel at all levels
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Regulations, Acts and Codes of Practice
  • A strong focus towards safety and safe work practices
  • Experience in equipment failure investigation using root cause analysis techniques
  • Experience in SAP will be beneficial
  • C Class Drivers License
