About the role

This role is a great opportunity for a successful individual to work in a dynamic team which is responsible for providing technical assurance, reliability analysis and risk advisory function to the Rail Maintenance Division. Reporting to the Principal Asset Assurance, you will:
  • Lead the Defect Elimination (DE) process & conduct high-level root cause analysis (RCA)/5Whys for rail network assets across RTIO rail infrastructure assets.
  • Improve site MTBF and MTTR by using rail system reliability modelling.
  • Drive cost and risk reduction while balancing asset life cycle and performance in alignment with Rail Engineering standards.
  • Analyse primary/secondary maintenance tasks (PM01/PM02) to improve asset reliability & cost
  • Conduct reliability analysis and interpret failures or unscheduled loss (UL) / cost data
  • Asset Optimisation
    • Identify and deliver asset performance and health improvement initiatives through defect elimination (MTBF)
    • Develop and maintain asset FMEA to define tactics, maintenance plans, checklists and inventory requirements
    • Investigate asset failures (RCA)
  • Asset Health
    • Analyse asset performance and health data
    • Provide tactical support
    • Support Maintenance Engineers as required
  • Systems Engineering
    • Define asset management technical requirements for new assets
    • Review new asset operational readiness tactics, maintenance plans and inventory requirements

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor of Engineering with 5-10 years of relevant rail experience
  • Relevant engineering experience in track, civil and signals.
  • Proficient with reliability concepts - FMECA, RCM, etc.
  • High level of stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • RCA and problem-solving techniques
  • Understanding of project management principles
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of work management process

Where you will be working

Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 15 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile), each train is operated by a single driver and comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.
