We are looking for Amrun fixed plant Mechanical Engineering role within the Asset Management department. This role will be tasked with extracting maximum value from the site fixed plant assets through the delivery of engineering support, supporting failure analysis, improvement project from DE execution of asset performance improvement projects.

This role is a great opportunity to demonstrate your technical, project management and stakeholder engagement skill set, reporting to the Senior Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Management of asset performance reporting metrics
  • Utilising data and mechanical principles to identify asset performance improvement initiatives
  • End to end project management of identified improvement initiatives
  • Supporting maintenance tactics development and review
  • Governance including standards review and update
  • Involve in Mechanical inspection and report review and provide recommendation
  • Drafting for small modification projects
  • Provision of technical assistance to maintenance teams
  • Involve in equipment failure investigation and corrective actions

What you will bring
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering support for mechanical equipment
  • Demonstrated experience leading mechanical asset performance improvement projects in a heavy industrial/Mining environment
  • Demonstrated experience in material handling equipment
  • Strong understanding in Australian Standards, and other standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Understanding of defect elimination concepts
  • Project management and execution
  • Intermediate skill in SolidWorks/MicroStation

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Experience working within mineral processing plant maintenance environment
  • APM GE knowledge
  • Working knowledge of business improvement tools (such as 6 Sigma, process improvement, CMMS and change management methodologies)

Where you will be working

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tonnes of bauxite.

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce-including 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
