About the role
We are looking for an Intern, External Communications to help support Rio Tinto's reputation and communication efforts in the United States. Ideally the chosen person would be based in Salt Lake City.

We are looking for a sharp student with an interest and understanding of social media, content creation, brand management, communications, planning, coordination, event management and stakeholder management. We would like our future partner to have a strategic mind and an ability to understand and manage complex situations.

Some key areas of work will include:
  • Providing support on our social media platforms.
  • Supporting media relations and external communications initiatives to help build Rio Tinto's reputation in the United States.
  • Helping to build Rio Tinto's reputation across the United States by providing support to develop engaging content, including social media posts, videos, web content, etc.
  • Providing support on the United States brand campaigns by working collaboratively with the External Communications team and the agency in the United States.
  • Providing brand guidance to communications and operational teams within the business, developing collaterals for events and sponsorships.
What you'll bring
  • Be a student in communications, public relations, journalism or any other related discipline.
  • Possess excellent writing skills and command of English.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle numerous deadlines.
