About the role:

Rio Tinto has recently announced an ambitious strategy to transition our business away from the use of diesel to and decarbonise.

We are looking for a Portfolio Manager to join our Mining Equipment team - 'Diesel Transition office', (DTO) role within Global Procurement based in our Perth office.

The role will be responsible to support the DTO team in the development, implementation of strategies, to accelerate and support the development of technical solutions chasing our ambitious GHG goals in in the 2025-, 2030- & 2050-time frames. This includes developing and maintaining strong relationships with the technical teams, support functions & Business Units and key Suppliers. to oversee contract preparation & management of Rio Tinto's global / regional contracts for the Diesel Transition office and services to ensure the preparation of contracts, contract management compliance and supplier performance management.

Reporting to the DTO Program Lead, some of the accountabilities of this role include:

Assist workstream leads with scoping and planning the activities required to deliver against the objectives of their workstreams
Develop a consolidated schedule to provide visibility of progress and interdependencies
Monitor and control progress at workstream and program levels
Support and coach workstream leads to effectively deliver activities on their workstreams, including effective prioritisation, resourcing, problem solving, decision making and appropriate escalation
Assist workstream leads with identifying and effectively managing dependencies with other workstreams, and risks within their workstreams
Assist workstream leads with the transition of project-based activities into sustainable business processes
Provide regular program level progress reporting to the DTO Steering Committee
Coordinate internal and external communications about the DTO program

About you:

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
  • Relevant degree/post graduate qualification is advantageous
  • Significant demonstrated experience leading indirect teams, project management, communication
  • Domain knowledge with the Mining Equipment technology, supply chain, supplier relationship management will be advantageous
  • A strong mix commercial acumen with proven category, Problem solving and a can-do attitude
  • Project management, problem solving and customer/supplier relationship management skills
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively verbally, power point and in written form with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Creative problem-solving skills with strong strategic outlook
