To help us with this challenge, we are looking for a Specialist to join our Fixed Equipment team - Electrical Infrastructure & Transmission, within Global Procurement based in our Perth office.

The role will support Rio Tinto's global requirement to procure a significant volume of Renewable Power Generation assets (Solar, Wind etc). Specifically, you will be involved in the procurement of associated Electrical Infrastructure to connect and transmit the Renewable Power that has been generated. The role requires a high degree of collaboration with key internal stakeholders and suppliers alike. In addition to undertaking critical Source to Contract activities, contract management and market intelligence / research activities.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor, Fixed Equipment you will be:
  • Contributing to rigorous 'fact base' development, based on external market/internal dynamics that will inform the basis of the category strategy and sourcing programs
  • Undertaking complex 'source to award' tender activities including; ownership of detailed supplier and stakeholder negotiations, ensuring probity, contract drafting/management and the subsequent business implementation
  • Developing and maintaining strong and productive relationships with RTP peers, key internal stakeholders (especially RTED) and managing cross-functional working groups to ensure that needs and requirements are fully understood
  • Extracting value from new and existing contractual/supplier relationships by influencing buying behaviour, acting as a positive change advocate and challenging the status-quo to enable superior business outcomes
  • Undertaking supplier relationship management activities (in conjunction with key stakeholders) to ensure; contractual requirements are being met, innovation and technology development, delivery of sustainable Total Cost of Ownership & ESG benefits
  • Monitoring the global Renewable Power Generation and Electrical Infrastructure technology markets which includes; market supply/demand analysis, key market drivers, internal forecasts, future trend analysis, technology development etc
  • Ensuring that all HSEC, Governance, Risk and Ethics protocols / policies are adhered to

The successful applicant will have:
  • Significant fact-base, source to contract, tender process, evaluation, negotiation and contract formation / execution / management experience (for high value/complex contracts)
  • Strong and proven commercial acumen and genuine category management experience
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and team skills with the ability to constructively influence
  • Transformation mindset with strong project management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective time management skills, the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and be a self-starter
  • A positive disposition that reflects a strong drive and ambition to succeed
  • Ideally carry domain knowledge of electrical power transmission and distribution equipment and working with EPC's, would be advantageous but not essential
  • Degree in either Business, Economics, Finance, Law or Engineering, or substantial industry experience in a similar role
  • Experience being part of a matrix organization, working with cross functional teams implementing supply chain solutions that have delivered demonstrated value to the organization
