About the role

We are looking for aTechnician: PCS - Technical, to support the stable operation of the PCS control systems assets including both software and hardware. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing PCS level 1 to level 3 automation systems while ensuring minimal downtime. The person will also diagnose, resolve, and document PCS problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and support where required. Share in weekend and callout responsibilities. Stay current with changing technology and implement training as directed by the Section Superintendent PCS.

Reporting to the Superintendent: PCS, you will:
  • Execution of maintenance & reliability engineering of PCS Software Assets and Control
  • Conduct effective maintenance & execution of PCS software applications & PLC hardware across all RBM operations (Wonderware,Cimplicity GE,Rockwell).
  • Apply effective problem-solving techniques to establish root-cause to failure (repeat failures, breakdowns, process instability) and conduct analysis & reporting to management on areas of risk with possible solutions.
  • Support the execution of teamwork walkabouts on Plants to ensure compliance to standards and quality of workmanship.
  • Continuously identify areas of opportunity to improve and optimise the current levels of PCS availability, reliability and process capabilities.
  • Conduct improvement studies and identify opportunities to implement CIP's and improve business performance.
  • Ensure clear understanding of business or customer user requirements (URS) are in place and signed off.
  • Support feasibility study for the maintenance, replacement or upgrade of equipment and be responsible for the PCS technical component, for CAPEX plan approval and assists with the compiling of the Capex plan for approval.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • N6 Diploma in Industrial Instrumentation or T3/S4 National Diploma Electrical Engineering
  • Drivers licence
  • Eligible for ECSA registration (Advantageous)
  • Minimum of 3 years Working knowledge of Mining and Smelting Process environment
