Staff Accountant II or III

WORK Location: (Remote -Hybrid) Montana Operations

** Relocation to Montana would be expected, as the hybrid model would require some on-site support and presence.

POSITION SUMMARY: Site/Staff Accountant II or III- Reporting to Cost Engineers. Maintain and monitor the daily activities/transactions associated with the Cost impacts affecting budget and actual performance of assigned area. Part of monthly duties includes commodity transactional tracking needed for cost/site review and analysis. Assist the closing process by providing site cost information to staff accountants. Ensure timely and accurate completion, and compliance with governing accounting principles. Position is responsible for other projects as assigned by the Immediate Supervisor. Any change of roles or responsibilities will come from Immediate Supervisor.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

  • Identifies and investigates issues in financial processes and transactions as it relates to recording of direct costs.
  • Proactive in identifying efficiencies in both process and data analysis.
  • Strives for continual improvement for site review, cost communications and financial impacts.
  • Assist with monthly cost reviews onsite at Nye
  • Provide monthly cost reports to accounting.
  • Prepare monthly closing entries and related accruals
  • Daily review and approval of accounting cost codes
  • Assist with periodic review of risk control and corporate financial policies, procedures and work flow practices and assist with periodic program review
  • Provide detailed reports and/or analysis to management as requested
  • Help Powder Techs with inventory software
  • Assist internal and external auditors' inquiries within the site cost function and activities.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or management
  • Schedule will be based on a 5/2-4/3 rotation (9 hour work day).
  • Travel time departure to site is prior to 5am and return is past 5pm (depending on home base). Travel to the site would be required 2 days per week.


QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree or BS degree in accounting or finance and/or 2 + years relevant finance or job cost experience
  • Ability to manage and organize time and conflicting priorities in a fast paced, demanding environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with a high level of initiative and task completion
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • A proven ability to communicate with multiple site locations and at all levels in order to accumulate data, interpret results, propose changes and report the financial effect of business decisions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • JDE software experience a plus
