The Opportunity
To provide leadership, expertise and direction to the Worsley business to effectively manage, govern, plan and implement biodiversity offsets, including the management, monitoring and reporting in accordance with commitments outlined in current and future approvals.
The role as Principal Biodiversity Offsets includes guiding development and implementation of key strategic and commercial outcomes focused on Offsets required to comply with current and future approvals programs.

Location
This role is offered as a full-time permanent opportunity and South32 supports flexible working arrangements with this role able to be based at the Worsley Boddington Bauxite Mine (BBM), the Worsley Refinery near Collie, or from our head office in Perth. Regular field support will be required, however, so a willingness to travel to support both the mine and refinery locations, as well as liaise with corporate teams is a must! We encourage building your new lifestyle near the mine or refinery and both sites are in fantastic regions with several great country towns in the region to choose from to call home. Accountabilities
You will be responsible for;


  • Working as an effective member of the team to:- plan and implement the strategic direction of the Worsley Alumina Offsets Program
  • Actively leading the Worsley business in planning Biodiversity Offsets for optimal practices and solutions
  • Government interface and liaison for Biodiversity Offsets approval, planning and implementation (including reporting)
  • Interface with the medium and long-term planning teams to ensure coordinated and integrated planning of the Biodiversity Offsets process
  • Planning and delivery of the approved offsets
  • Participation in the development of the departmental budget and other administrative requirements


About you

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Ecology/Environmental Science/ Land Management or related disciplines
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence various levels of the business and external stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic and commercial outcomes
  • Working knowledge of offset policy and calculators under both State (WA) and Commonwealth legislation
  • Significant proven experience in planning implementation of restoration programs, with focus on offsets where possible
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders across multiple levels
  • Previous experience in Project Management activities
  • 10 years' experience within a similar role
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute, influence and make decisions within multi-functional teams
