About Worsley

The South32 Worsley Alumina operation is one of the largest and lowest-cost bauxite mining and alumina refining in the world. Worsley manages a bauxite mine, alumina refinery and port operations in Western Australia's South West.

The Opportunity

Live in the beautiful South-West region Western Australia and return home each night, working an attractive 4 x 10-hour day roster. Reporting to the High Voltage Electrical Supervisor, the main aspect of this role is to safely execute high voltage protection relay programming, interrogation, maintenance and replacement at the Worsley Alumina Refinery and associated assets.

The successful candidate will be offered a permanent position with our HV Electrical Maintenance Team.

Accountabilities:

  • Testing and maintaining HV Protection Systems
  • Safe isolation of high voltage electrical apparatus
  • Testing and maintaining power transformers
  • Testing and maintaining high voltage switchgear
  • Periodic testing of high voltage cables
  • Execution of various scheduled inspections
  • Fault finding/repair of HV equipment
  • DC battery system and UPS maintenance and testing


About you

The successful candidate will have had extensive experience in a similar role and be able to work as part of a team or independently depending on requirements and will be able to follow all safety practices and procedures in place.

Qualifications & experience:

  • Current Western Australian 'C' class drivers' license
  • Demonstrated experience in protection relay programming, interrogation and testing
  • Well-developed computer literacy skills
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals
  • Applicable engineering degree or diploma


Desirable qualifications:

  • Proficient with power system protection relay interrogation software packages such as acSELerator, Test Universe and ABB REF configuration tools.
  • Western Australian 'A' grade electrical license - would be highly regarded
  • High Voltage Switching Qualification
