The Opportunity
Provide expertise, coordination and support in the development of medium term (five years) mine plan schedules and design. Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Development Planning you will assist with planning process must take into account all HSEC requirements to ensure safe, cost effective and continuous production that meets all quality consideration.

Location
This is offered as a Fulltime permanent opportunity based at the Worsley Boddington Bauxite Mine (BBM). BBM is in a fantastic region with several great country towns in the region to choose from to call home. Enjoy fresh country air, the open space of Boddington Shire, with great infrastructure, schooling, sporting clubs and a thriving community. The region is only 80 minutes South of Perth and only 60 minutes from the coast.

Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with Senior Engineer (Mine Development Scheduling) and Senior Engineer (Mine Development Design) to support delivery of mine development plans by providing optimised rehabilitation, clearing, development and mining designs and schedules.
  • Support delivery of enabling activities to support integrated mine plans through interaction with approvals, heritage, engineering and project teams.
  • Deliver feasible Mine Design inputs to the Scheduling sub-function that account for HSEC, volume and cost requirements of the operation (including but not limited to design of: development activities (clearing, rehabilitation); Optimised design of mining pits (including access & bench design); infrastructure (haul roads, ROM stockpiles, waste dumps etc) and Drill & Blast)
  • Collaborate with the Scheduling Engineer to ensure efficient integration of production volumes, shutdowns and logistics issues into the plan and alignment with scheduling priorities
  • Ensure that Design Site Standards are current and designs are completed in compliance with site standards
  • Collaborate with the Production Technical & Support teams to identify design improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure Design team adhere to work standards, are competent and understand the purpose and functionality of critical controls relevant to their work
  • Support and contribute to investigations of relevant Events using 1SAP Work Management
  • Positively influence and shape the culture to ensure a safe, sustainable and disciplined approach to work
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and engage with them to ensure well designed work


About You

Experience/Technical Skills
  • Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster alignment and collaboration between multi-disciplinary technical teams as well as sub-functions
  • Relationship building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven capability in the use of planning and design tools, specifically Vulcan
  • Sound report and document writing skills.
  • Demonstrated written and oral English language proficiency
  • Identify opportunities that support business priorities for continuous improvement and Well-Designed Work.
  • Delivery of timely designs and pit extraction sequences, including rehabilitation and clearing

Desirable
  • Mine design and scheduling experience desirable

Qualifications
  • Degree in Mine Engineering (or relevant Engineering Discipline)
  • Minimum of 8-10 years mine engineering or mine planning experience within large mining operations
  • Experience with mine planning and/or Mine Scheduling software (e.g. Vulcan, Xact, SMS)
  • Strong computer skills, specialising in the use of Microsoft Office suite and 1SAP
