Reporting to the Senior Surveyor, you will provide accurate and timely survey control and support to mine operation and projects, ensuring compliance to the site Health & Safety Management System and relevant statutory legislation.
This is a permanent full-time position and a great opportunity to join the Illawarra Metallurgical Coal Technical Services team.

This position will be at our Appin mine which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.

Key accountabilities
- Provide and maintain accurate survey control across the site, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
- Produce survey plans to support mine operations and projects in accordance with the required site standards and survey management plan
- Completing weekly and monthly survey updates and assisting with the reporting requirements.
- Maintain site survey equipment in good working order and assist with maintenance of the mines underground survey model
About you

To be considered for the role, you must have:
- Formal Survey qualifications; Bachelor or Diploma in Surveying, or equivalent
- Experience in mining (particularly underground coal mining) is desirable but not essential
- A good work ethic, self-motivated and have good attention to detail
- Behaviours in line with the South32 values
- Proficient with the use of MS Office suite of products like Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Proficient with AutoCAD software and familiar with Leica survey equipment
