The Opportunity - Permanent, Full Time Position

This newly created position of Principal Commercial will be an integral member of our Commercial team.You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, prioritising and negotiating commercial opportunities on a value and risk basis to support the Company's business plan.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, your key accountabilities are:
  • Enabling key drivers of value including:
    • Capacity - support activities to expand or acquire necessary additional capacity or derive commercial benefits from excess capacity of existing assets.
    • Investments - pursue investments in assets, equipment, infrastructure and supply where they increase the value of existing operations and/or ensure security of supply for ore.
    • Synergies - explore opportunities to generate value through partnering/collaborating with adjacent operations or external parties to maximise utilisation of assets, equipment or infrastructure.
    • Access - ensure timely access to land/ mineral rights for the development of mining areas and infrastructure to support the long-term mine plan.
  • Leading strategic commercial opportunities (from initiation to execution), specifically related to strategic projects, high risk dispute resolution, corporate development opportunities, lease and joint venture arrangements and land and infrastructure acquisition or divestments.
  • Leads the development of transaction structures, negotiations strategies and mandates and complex commercial agreements.
  • Driving and coaching cross functional teams to deliver commercial opportunities including economics to facilitate value-based investment decisions and identification of risk and uncertainties.


About You
Here are some of the core skills we'd like you to have:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in a commercial role for a mid-large organisation. M&A, transaction advisory or litigation experience would be highly regarded.
  • Strong experience in developing commercial strategies and leading high value negotiations.
  • Experience and expertise in discounted cash flow and valuations more broadly.
  • Strategic / innovative thinking capability and strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge in transaction structuring and transaction management preferred.
  • Effective written and communication skills, including experience in influencing senior management.
  • Strong ability to develop interpersonal relationships, thrive in a team environment and lead multi-disciplinary execution teams.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Law or related disciplines
