The location of this role is the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona

The Role

Operational Readiness Specialist will have direct oversight and be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring programs and activities that enhance skills and knowledge of Hermosa employees across all levels of the site. The position will be responsible for training within the Hermosa operating teams to organize, develop, and deliver all training content. This person will ensure the success of the employee development programs, collaborate with supervisors to support development activities, and accelerate high potential talent.

Accountabilities ( Include but are not limited to) :

Individual Accountabilities:

  • Build training related to tasks and required documents in a timely manner
  • Ensure employees are trained appropriately, according to work instruction requirements
  • Generate applicable reports for pending and overdue training including monthly metrics as requested
  • Coordinate information for supervisors to use regarding employees in their areas that require additional training
  • Assist operations and maintenance in all aspects of the training process, including conducting hands-on competency training or mock training center utilization
  • Support and provide mentorship to new employees during the orientation period, to include coordination of training, renewal training, and providing general process and equipment overview
  • Maintain training data and ensure compliant, with audit requirements
  • Ensure appropriate training progression plans and additional training requirements are communicated effectively and assigned to supervisors, as needed
  • Assist with development, coordination, and maintenance of training schedules to optimize supervisor utilization and functionality
  • Assist with the development and the coordination of site-specific training designed to provide job placement flexibility
  • Assist with assessment and retraining of employees to guide and direct them on current training models and support
  • Provide assistance with new processes or equipment training development, including providing training, as required
  • Collaborate with the different operating teams to review events; corrective actions and/or major changes to ensure training consistency between departments
  • Coordinate refresher training for employees when events occur due to lack of training; or employees change job classifications
  • Other assigned administrative tasks as required in keeping relevant with industry standards and/or regulations (e.g., organizing and filing paper-based training records, managing electronic copies, and updating the operating areas Matrix) as required


Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a training capacity
  • MSHA certified trainer
  • Strong software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management
  • Strong presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals
  • Strong time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs
  • Ability to build effective relationships built on trust, respect, and collaboration
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development knowledge and experience with survey tools and techniques
  • Ability to handle competing demands, use time efficiently, and prioritize appropriately
  • High detail and ownership of responsibilities and resourceful with problem-solving
  • Ability to stay organized, be detail-oriented, and have strong follow-through
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Simultaneously working on multiple projects at a time
  • Heavy Outlook scheduling and managing multiple training calendars throughout the year
