About the role
This is a permanent full-time role being offered on a 4:3 roster (Mon-Thu), FIFO Darwin or Cairns or can be offered as residential on Groote Eylandt subject to housing availability.
Reporting to the Operations Manager Process & Logistics, you will lead the Road Haulage & Port operations including road train product haulage, stockpiling and wharf facilities, stevedoring, tug crews and marine pilotage at our GEMCO operation.
You will continuously identify and implement improvement opportunities by optimising processes and systems and reducing risks.

About the role

Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Provide safety leadership to your team and pursue opportunities to ensure front line leaders develop an inclusive operating culture
- Optimise the efficient use of the road train fleet to bulk haul material from the mine to port
- Manage Port facilities including product stockpiling and load-out operations
- Provide coordination of shipping plans, vessel vetting, marketing and freight liaison
- Safely deliver marine pilotage, vessel and tug movements, stevedoring and cargo loading
- Manage risks for the Road Haulage & Port areas with a risk reduction mindset
- Integrate and collaborate with maintenance, quality control, planning and marketing teams
About you
You will have significant leadership experience in a bulk materials logistics operation, preferably with experience in a Port operations environment and naturally have a passion and commitment to workplace safety.
In addition, you should have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business, Maritime, Logistics and/or relevant experience
- Ability to develop, coach and mentor team members to improve engagement, diversity and capability
- Relevant experience in production or logistics processes particularly related to bulk material movement and/or shipping
