Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, the Mine Operations Digital Specialist is responsible for supporting Mine Operations Supervisors and Dispatchers in improving the impact of digital solutions crafted and implemented by the RACE21™ and Continuous Improvement teams. These tools use analytics to generate insights in critical areas like truck allocation, road quality and payload management. A secondary but critical accountability is to communicate end user feedback both on existing tools as well as new opportunities where analytics could be applied.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, who has demonstrated integrity and the ability to communicate technical data to all levels of the organization. You will have strong leadership skills and a demonstrated understanding of behavioural organizational change principles and able to empower others. You have a strong attention to detail, are adaptable and upbeat, with a strong interest in continuous improvement.

This position follows a 4x4 days and nights rotation and is located in the breathtaking Elk Valley of British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips. Responsibilities :
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Empower supervisors in achieving operating targets and share responsibility for operational key performance indicators
  • Use digital tools to support supervisors to manage and optimize truck, shovel, drilling, and blasting functions to improve production and minimize operating costs
  • Identify and communicate when data trends are going down or up and when they impact performance
  • Understand mine plans and mine maintenance activities and collaborate closely with shift supervisors, engineers, and maintenance personnel in coordinating priorities and gaps
  • Provide analytical support for the Senior Supervisor through Short Interval Controls and hand over meetings
  • Support implementation plans to find opportunities and provide feedback from interactions with supervisors
  • Work with front line users to improve value of specific digital solutions and sustain analytical products, including training users, and updating procedures
  • Highlight results from users while engaging and sustaining technology adoption


Qualifications :
  • Technical degree or a combination of relevant experience and schooling
  • Minimum three years demonstrated ability leading operational activities in an open pit mining environment
  • Previous experience working with sophisticated analytics products or software such as fleet management system within the resource industry
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet tight timelines, and positively contribute within a team environment
