Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Clerk is responsible for accurately entering completed timecard information and ensuring payroll is successfully completed and employees are paid accurately. Attention to detail, problem solving, and a high level of integrity is a must for success in this role.

Responsibilities :
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Accurately code and post daily time cards
  • Complete timely and accurate payment to hourly employees ensuring security and timeliness of bank transfer payroll files
  • Facilitate all month end payroll reporting in a timely manner
  • Prepare and submit WCB reports, Resource Management Fees, Income Tax, CPP, and EI in accordance with government legislation
  • Complete annual preparation and reconciliation of taxable benefits and T4’s
  • Assist in preparation of annual Gain Share, Profit Share, and Teck Coal incentive payments
  • Respond to general queries from employees and other departments
  • Assist with employee on-boarding, processing terminations, and ROE’s


Qualifications :
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification would be preferred
  • Payroll or Accounting experience
  • Excellent digital literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with experience in payroll applications
  • Sophisticated analytical, problem solving, and decision making abilities
  • Motivated individual who performs with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize with minimal mentorship and complete work to meet tight schedules
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Shown high level of integrity and confidentiality
