Reporting to the Port Operations Supervisor, the Port Operator Level V (Regular) is responsible for dumping concentrate trucks, clean around conveyor systems. Operate front-end loaders 966, 988, D8 dozer, VAC truck and other labor type jobs as required.

Rotation Schedule will be an even rotation

Responsibilities :
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Proficient at operation of all Port equipment including TUB, VAC truck, front end loader (medium and small), skid steer, fork lift and operating Dozer in the CSB
  • Assist in the training of new operators on Port equipment
  • Assist with concentrate management in CSB’s and load concentrates
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Port Operation of the site layout and conveyors systems for dumping trucks and concentrate load out
  • Required to complete basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk around inspection forms, which include information such as location, material hauled, load count, hours worked and condition of equipment
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and have the willingness to learn and advance through the Port Operators progression
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
  • Communicate effectively with other operators, colleagues and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications :
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ prior mining or similar experience which includes heavy equipment operating experience (Skid steer, VAC truck, Loader, Forklift, Dozer) is required
  • Must be certified ship loader operator
  • A valid Driver’s license
  • Strong team cooperation is required
  • Performs all tasks with limited direction
  • Must work safety and follow instructions
  • Must be willing to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
  • A desire to advance to higher levels in the competency development system by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks and duties in the Port Operations department
