Mt. Milligan is currently seeking an experienced Mine Maintenance Planner to join our Maintenance team.

Reporting to the Senior Planner - Mine Maintenance, the Mine Maintenance Planner will be responsible for the safe execution of an effective maintenance planning program for the mining equipment fleet at Mt. Milligan. The role will focus on coordinating the production needs of the mining operations with the maintenance and repair requirements of the equipment.


  • Assist in developing and executing an effective maintenance planning program for all mining equipment and mine operational electrical infrastructure at the Mt Milligan mine site.
  • Consistently execute a strong maintenance business process, including Predictive Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance programs, and equipment maintenance Best Practices.
  • Help manage the logistics and the planning of erection / assembly / commissioning of new mining equipment.
  • Source and requisition parts from various vendors. Ensure that parts arrival meets scheduling requirements.
  • Work with vendors to complete warranty claims. Share and receive information pertinent to securing parts for major overhauls and component failures
  • Complete shipping documents for component cores and confirm their return.
  • Promote a "Continuous Improvement" philosophy within the mine maintenance departments, with counterpart(s) in the mill, and with contractors / vendors
  • Identify priorities working with Senior Planner / Mine Maintenance Superintendents and then plan and schedule major equipment repairs / overhauls.
  • Maintain equipment PM schedule and schedule backlog accordingly.
  • Maintain equipment tracking records, component tracking records and all work history.
  • Develop and provide input for creation of GANTT charts for major overhauls.
  • Participate in Job reviews, post mortem reviews and defect elimination processes as required.
  • Manage and execute weekly planning meetings within department. Report at weekly planning meetings with Operations department.
  • Provide detailed plans/forecasts for mine engineering department to co-ordinate mining/maintenance activities.
  • Provide a weekly schedule, work order packages and work order list for front line supervisors. Monitor progress during the week.
  • Maintain regulatory required inspection schedule (fire suppression, NDT, CVIP recertifications)
  • Work with reliability team to plan/schedule condition monitoring activities and other initiatives.
  • Embrace a strong commitment to safety and environmental protection as top priorities, and ensure compliance with all corporate, governmental and site safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Work with supervisors to ensure the timely completion and return of work order documents for closing and digital entry. Ensure all required details are captured accurately.
  • Work with purchasing department to expedite parts as required.
  • Arrange contractors as needed and co-ordinate site access, indoctrination and lodging.
  • Make recommendations in relation to measuring and improving production methods, employee and equipment performance / efficiency, working conditions, and the quality of the work produced.


  • Five plus years planning experience in an industrial or mining setting preferred
  • Degree or diploma in a technical field an asset
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs ie. Excel, Word, Project and Outlook
  • Knowledge of SIS and Cat Parts Store preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities
  • Knowledge of mine equipment and mine site standards, policies, procedures and processes
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision


  • The schedule for this position will be 7 days on, 7 days off, 12 hours per day.
  • We offer bus transportation from the local communities of Fort St James and Mackenzie, as well as Prince George, Smithers and most communities in between.
