Description

Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer - Short Range Planning, the Mining Engineer will work with the Mine Technical Services team to provide planning and engineering support focused on dam construction and mine waste management; and other project work as required to support the open pit mine and tailings storage facility construction.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Provide inputs to 13 Week Plans, Quarterly Forecasts, and LOM plans
  • Maintain dam construction designs
  • Work with geotechnical team to ensure dam is constructed according to specifications
  • Work with teammates to maintain a database of ramps, pipeline crossings, and pipe decks to include in plans
  • Create weekly placement plans
  • Track placement of material and maintain record of material that needs to be replaced
  • Identify and plan raises of wells and instrumentation


Skills / Experience
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in the mining industry preferred
  • Mine design software experience (preferably Hexagon MinePlan)
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the operation
  • Strong computer skills
  • Exposure to project coordination and ability to make sound project decisions
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with EGBC.
  • Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements


Working Conditions

This position is based at the mine site where camp accommodations will be provided. The work rotation is fourteen (14) days on and fourteen (14) days off, working twelve (12) hour shifts.
