The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Superintendent, Integrated Planning to join our Sudbury Operations. To manage the Integrated Planning and Routine Management for the site. The role is accountable for the following: developing the site integrated maintenance plan and the integrated site schedule; execution of the Asset Management business processes within the Vale Production System (VPS) and usage of related systems/tools such as SAP, Deswick etc.; for coordination of the site Energy Plan; and, for engineering related to day to day equipment reliability (assessments & CI) including the approval and scoping of engineering request.

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum Education in an Engineering or Technical discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Supervision, Planning/Scheduling or Reliability related role
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Superintendent role (Maintenance, Operating or similar)
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management, Maintenance Engineering, VPS Technical and SAP.

  • Execute the business processes (VPS Technical) and apply appropriate tools (i.e. SAP)
  • Develop mastery in business processes (VPS Technical) and related tools/systems (i.e. SAP/Prometheus, Deswick, etc.)
  • Participate in major upgrades of SAP, enhancement development, testing, etc. as required
  • Participate in the Maintenance Community of Practices as required
  • Pursue expanded use of the business process and systems as required (Continuous Improvement)
  • Use Reliability KPI reports that includes the explanation of variances and trends
  • Develop and manage the maintenance reliability strategy for the site
  • Develop the 5 Year Maintenance Plan and associated Operating Master Schedule (OMS)
  • Develop the Maintenance Budget (Operating & Capital)
  • Optimize existing maintenance plans
  • Audit compliance to maintenance business process performance, tool usage and standards
  • Develop and execute discontinuous and continuous improvement plans – addressing common cause issues within the plant
  • Lead development and coordination of site Energy Plan
  • Lead critical spares program (Service Strategy/Preservation Maintenance)
  • Lead Planning and Scheduling team and develop competencies
  • Lead team of planners, scheduler(s) in routine work process (VPS Technical) ensuring an appropriate relief strategy is in place
  • Lead site Maintenance Engineers who are accountable for day to day engineering related to equipment reliability (assessments & CI), and scoping and reviewing all engineering requests
  • Build role holder competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities) at the site.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Maintenance supervision, project implementation, and engineering knowledge.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong organization and time management skills.
  • Takes initiative and is self-directed to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid financial knowledge to make business cases and decisions.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
