The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Maintenance Assistant, Local 2020-05 to join our All Mines Services department in the Sudbury Operations.

Although previous experience in mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that’s what makes us great!

Accountabilities:
  • Follow technical expertise in construction and commissioning of automated Diamond Drills and Raise Bores. Must remain current with changes in applicable technology. Assist in the development of communication and automation systems, safety and failsafe analysis,
  • Assist with the design, maintenance and programming of the Familiarity with electrical systems, ABB programmable controllers, ladder logic programs, hydraulic controls, wireless communications, broadband communication systems and fiber optics.
  • Safely install, test, debug and troubleshoot various pieces of equipment, preforming inspections as required.
  • Safely perform Preventative Maintenance work to meet production schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair instrumentation equipment problems and breakdowns to reduce impact on operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, electrical diagrams and OEM Manuals.
  • Respond to emergency situations and or call outs as required.
  • Report deviations to established procedures and provide required documentation of work performed.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work in an underground environment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFIC SKILLS:

Education: Graduate technologist in electrical/electronic discipline (certification in electronics, communications, electrical, instrumentation and/or other relevant field is desirable).

Experience: More than three years of related underground experience in similar design and maintenance fields preferred. Previous experience in automation, communications (cable TV), military, network management, automotive, will be considered.

Analytical: Knowledge of modern analytical techniques and instrumentation is required. Applicant must be fully conversant with applicable codes and government regulations.

Processes: General knowledge of equipment & drilling practices and of Fiber System Design and Maintenance is required. Willingness to learn and adapt to new and changing technologies is an asset.

Computer: General knowledge with MS Office software including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
