Our Team:

The Manitoba Operations Team is part of the North Atlantic mining Team reporting through the corporate Base Metals organization. The team is key to safely delivering production targets in a challenging mining environment. Working collaboratively with multiple Operations, Maintenance and Support groups, the Process Superintendent II will provide leadership which will enable the mine to safely and efficiently produce mine product that will meet the business needs of the Thompson Mines.

The Opportunity

Additionally, in this position you will:
  • Implement Safety, Health and Environment Management Systems, and evaluate/control effectiveness through trend analysis.
  • Manage an area with operations, maintenance and technical services, develop and execute annual plans and mitigate impact of plant upsets.
  • Lead a unionized and non-unionized workforce, talent pool development and planning to meet area requirements over the long term, including personal development.
  • Meet the unit cost and capital expenditure budget. Lead the preparation of the annual budget and five year plan.
  • Business planning on a 1 to 3 year time horizon, current mineral resource stewardship, capital planning and maximize revenue of existing assets.
  • Provide effective care and utilization of assets while increasing reliability through Asset Management Framework.
  • Implement new management systems.
  • Ensure data collection systems are in place and effective, lead problem solving initiatives through adaptive thinking to reduce process variability.


About You
  • An undergraduate degree in Mining Engineering or other relevant field (minimum of Grade 12 with appropriate cognitive ability).
  • A minimum of 11 years of progressive experience in an underground mine environment.
  • Experience in leadership and supervision of unionized and non-unionized workforces.
  • Experience assisting in preparation of annual and 5 year budgets, capital and metallurgical plans.
  • Experience assisting in establishment of departmental policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Health & Safety Act and Safety, Health and Environment Management Systems.
  • Experience with MS Office, SAP.
