Our Team

The Talent Acquisition team leads Vale’s efforts to attract, recruit and hire top talent to meet Vale’s short and long-term business goals. Members of this team support a variety of clients across our Canadian Operations and Corporate Functions while collaborating with each other and contributing towards initiatives designed to deliver best in class Talent Acquisition practices.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Talent Acquisition Sourcing Specialist to join our Talent Acquisition team. This is a 12-month contract, remote position.

In this role, you will develop and lead robust strategies to build and maintain strong talent pools/pipelines for various positions based on current and future hiring needs. As a strategic partner, you will define priorities together with talent acquisition counterparts and business leaders and bring top-quality candidates that are an excellent fit for both the role and the company. Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Collaborate with key HR stakeholders to identify priority positions for which talent pools are required, based on vacancy frequency, criticality to the business, urgency, and future needs.
  • \t
  • Align with talent acquisition counterparts, leaders and other stakeholders on the candidate skills and profile for the positions to be sourced.
  • \t
  • Leverage data, market intelligence and talent mapping to provide key insights into the market, diversity and inclusion, and other hiring trends that might influence pipeline strategy.

  • Identify the most effective channels to source for passive talent online and offline and develop creative sourcing strategies to locate the best talent for the business.
  • \t
  • Generate leads and build talents pools/pipelines leveraging events, online sources e.g., social media and other creative sourcing techniques according to the priorities.

  • Engage passive candidates and gauge both technical skills and culture fit of candidates, and to understand candidate motivation.
  • \t
  • Identify niche or industry associations, partnerships or other external networks that could aid candidate attraction.
  • \t
  • Own the employee referral programs and other internal actions as needed to attract candidates for hard-to-fill positions and support recruiters by sourcing for open hard-to-fill positions as required

  • Register potential candidates’ information in applicant tracking system or other internal databases and retarget previous candidates for new job opportunities.

  • Measure and report on sourcing metrics e.g., time-to-fill for sourced positions, pool size, conversion rate, or any other relevant metric regarding sourcing actions.

About You
    \t
  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • \t
  • A minimum of 5 years of dynamic recruiting experience in corporate and or search firm including sourcing and full life cycle recruitment.
  • \t
  • Prior experience in mining or related industry is an asset.
  • \t
  • Demonstrable knowledge of various sourcing tools, methodologies, and channels (social networks, professional websites, resume databases etc.).
  • \t
  • Hands-on experience with applicant tracking systems and other Human Resources Management software
  • \t
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage internally and externally at all levels.
  • \t
  • Negotiating and selling skills.
  • \t
  • Strong organization and time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • \t
  • Experience in a fast paced and dynamic working environment.
  • \t
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment.
