The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mine Maintenance Supervisor to join our Mine Maintenance Team at our remote mine site in Voisey’s Bay, NL. This is a permanent position.

This position is based at the Voisey’s Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is on a two week on, two week off rotation .

The Mine Maintenance Supervisor – Light Vehicle Shop is responsible for the safe and effective supervision and planning of site mobile equipment servicing and repair. The incumbent will supervise a team of unionized company and contract maintenance personnel, including heavy equipment maintenance technicians, truck transport maintenance technicians, automotive maintenance technicians, tire persons and welders.

In this position, you will:
    \t
  • Supervise and develop a safe and efficient maintenance team to meet maintenance schedules and production targets;
  • \t
  • Support and implement action plans that encompass company safety, environment and production objectives;
  • \t
  • Motivate and direct the maintenance team to meet safety and production targets while caring for the environment;
  • \t
  • Support work standards through supervision, training, coaching and observing maintenance employees;
  • \t
  • Control non-standard maintenance situations with immediate actions and proactively scan the maintenance operation for improvements.

About You

Education:
    \t
  • A post-secondary degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • \t
  • Heavy Duty Mechanic’s Journeyperson certificate.

Experience:
    \t
  • Minimum of 10 years’ overall experience in a mining mobile maintenance environment; including 5 years’ experience in Heavy Duty Maintenance Supervision and 5 years’ experience in relevant heavy equipment repairs.
  • \t
  • Must have detailed knowledge of heavy equipment and light vehicle maintenance and repair in a mining environment.
  • \t
  • Knowledge of open pit mining processes is required.
  • \t
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills – both written and verbal, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • \t
  • Solid skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolution.
  • \t
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • \t
  • Previous experience with SAP is an asset.
