Summary Description:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position`s primary responsibility is to provide technical guidance, planning, and supervising direct reports for all Support equipment.

  • Implement an effective safety program conducting safety meetings as required, ensure effective new and refresher safety task training for assigned personnel: monitor and inspect work areas to assure area is safe and in compliance with all MSHA and company safety rules and regulations, correcting all unsafe conditions. Respond to accidents as required to provide first aid, investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain maintenance records and ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance and repair of mine equipment in order to maximize equipment availability.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production operations ensuring that adequate scheduling needs for parts, materials and manpower to effectuate timely repair has been met.
  • Supervise all personnel assigned to them on shift, including assignments of duties, evaluation of performance, training and recommendation for training.
  • Coordinate and direct work activities to effectively implement maintenance plans.
  • Prepare or review reports as required to evaluate and document activities.
  • Track, trend and report on PM compliance and effectiveness on all support equipment.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement program.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Five years experience in mining or a related industry or a college degree in Civil, Mechanical or Mining Engineering. Previous experience in supervising and directing the work of others. Demonstrated knowledge of operation and maintenance functions. Demonstrates working knowledge of computer applications, specifically PeopleSoft or other maintenance management software and Microsoft standard office programs. Demonstrates knowledge of environmental and safety regulations. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with other supervisors, professionals, representatives and departmental staff from within and outside the company. Successful candidate will be required to obtain a State of Montana Mine Foreman Certificate. Successful candidate must have a valid drivers' license.
