Position Summary:
As a primary responsibility, Welder-Mechanic will assist in maintenance of the 8050 and 8200 Marion walking draglines and hydraulic shovels; as well as, repair and overhaul all mine equipment as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on draglines, overburden drills and shovels.
  • Must be able to take a self-directed approach to work assignments.
  • Take responsibility to repair minor breakdowns, unassisted.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate an air arc.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metal, welding rods, welding heats and stress relief.
  • Must possess a good working knowledge of the use of tools and equipment needed for repair jobs and properly care for those tools.
  • Demonstrate knowledge to repair or overhaul gearboxes on draglines shovels and overburden drills.
  • Ability to repair bucket rigging.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate a cutting torch and satisfactorily perform gas welding.
  • Ability to troubleshoot automatic lube systems.
  • Perform safety inspections of assigned truck and equipment at the start of every shift.
  • Report potential safety hazards to immediate supervisor.
  • Comply with and maintain all company, state and federal MSHA safety regulations.
  • Attendance of safety meetings.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.





REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass an established weld test.
  • Welder/ Mechanic must have knowledge of wire feed and stick welding.
  • Ability to work at heights.(i.e. elevated boom point and tri-structure of draglines).
  • Possess mechanical knowledge to accomplish required work on heavy, open and enclosed gear systems (i.e. repair and overhaul).
  • Knowledge of general maintenance practices.
