Position Summary

The sales agronomist will sell and manage WestMET Agriproducts portfolio of Humalite and Humalite products throughout western Canada. The sales agronomist will work closely with retail locations, distribution partners, growers and WestMET team members to fulfill sales targets.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities over other employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build relationships with retailers, distribution, and growers.
  • Work with marketing to increase product awareness.
  • Execute on the organization's crop input market development plans to include customer field meetings, cooperative product trials, customer agronomy events, marketing support and delivery of crop planning services.
  • Assist research groups in proving product properties
  • Lead agronomic troubleshooting for any problems customers may face with our product.
  • Manage logistics and timing/budgeting of products.
  • Assist engineering in the development of new products.
  • Assist in mine reclamation revegetation.
  • Perform related work as required.

Typical Physical Demands

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient to travel.

Typical Working Conditions

Normal office environment and field work in typical weather. Occasional evening or weekend work. Occasional offsite travel may be necessary depending on assigned duties. Working on-call, nights and weekends may occasionally be required on an as needed basis. Will be working away 25-50% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture
  • Registered, or eligible to register as an P.Ag with AIA
  • Previous sales experience of crop inputs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

  • P.Ag preferred.
  • CCA
