Position Summary - Surveyor

Under general supervision, collect and interpret field survey data to support and maintain mine operations, engineering, permitting, and reclamation activities. Coordinate, plan and perform detailed surveys in accordance with accepted procedures, accuracy standards and survey methodology to ensure compliance of mining activities to applicable regulations and laws. Assist engineering staff with other job tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support mining and production operations, including horizontal and vertical control for shovels, drills, dozers, and reclamation activities.

• Perform surveys required for continued environmental compliance.

• Provide and maintain ground control for periodic aerial photography.

• Monthly surveying required for tracking inventories and production by Technical Services (Engineering) Department.

• Maintain up-to-date as builts of pits and dumps on a weekly basis

• Assist geologist and geotechnical with prism monitoring and wall monitoring systems

• Perform related work as required.

Typical Physical Demands

Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds unassisted; able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, lifting, and use full range of body motions.

Typical Working Conditions

Must work in a safe manner at all times and be aware of surveying responsibilities both in an office and field setting. Requires light to moderate physical activity when doing field work such as walking over uneven terrain, up and down hills, mounting and dismounting equipment with GPS systems, and carrying or lifting items up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience

• Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field.

• Minimum 3 years of related work experience.

• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
