Overview / Responsibilities

Wood's Mining & Minerals business performs consulting and EPCM services for many of the world's leading mining companies and is executing world-class projects on five continents.

Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Document Controller. Reporting to the Project Services Manager, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for providing leadership support to Wood project teams in the control and issuance of engineering documents on mining projects. Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the document control function is being performed in accordance with corporate procedures and project requirements in a timely and efficient manner
  • Participate in setup and maintenance of Project Workspace and Project Web
  • Participate in work process improvements
  • Ensuring that all internally prepared drawings are logged into the document control system, distributed and returned by users in accordance with Wood and client procedures
  • Ensuring vendor drawings in both electronic and hard copy format are logged with transmittal memoranda, distributed to, and returned by, users in accordance with Wood and client procedures
  • Communicating effectively with appropriate engineering disciplines; including, providing ongoing updates on status of work
  • Ensuring required filing and archiving of technical documents is done in a timely manner
  • Storing, securing, revising, retrieving, distributing and archiving electronic and hard copy documents
  • Produce drawing status reports
  • Assisting with the maintenance of library information
  • Take on the lead document controller position supervising other staff when the project size demands


Skills / Qualifications

  • 8+ years of increasingly progressive professional records management experience
  • Experience in engineering and vendor document control is required
  • Firsthand experience with SharePoint or web based EDMS
  • Experience with MS Office products
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with all staff levels within the office
  • Ability to work either as a team member or as a team leader
