Job Description

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Alternate Project Manager will provide operational leadership and support across all aspects of the project. You will be responsible for assisting in the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of underground mining activities while ensuring compliance with statutory, client, and company requirements.

You will build strong relationships with site teams and stakeholders, drive operational performance, and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in the day-to-day management of underground mining operations.
  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all work areas.
  • Ensure project activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor production performance and assist with achieving operational targets.
  • Coordinate labour, equipment, and resources to maximise productivity.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and site personnel.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and development opportunities for supervisors and site personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, company procedures, and client requirements.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, productivity, and profitability.
  • Prepare and review operational reports and project performance data.


Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you will possess:
  • Significant experience in underground mining operations.
  • Previous experience in a Superintendent, Alternate Project Manager, Project Manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of underground development and production mining activities.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience managing operational performance, budgets, and project outcomes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Sound understanding of mining legislation and safety management systems.
  • Ability to make informed decisions in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Relevant mining qualifications and statutory certifications highly regarded.
