About Highland Valley Copper
Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operations is Canada's largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.
Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.
Role Overview
For this position we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering (Computer or Software) and have experience working on hardware and networks. This exciting opportunity will allow students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to handle challenges that may arise at a large scale mining operation.
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in information technology within an active mining operation, supporting employees across administrative, operational, and remote work environments. Working alongside experienced IT professionals, you will assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and system issues, responding to service requests, deploying and maintaining technology equipment, and managing IT assets and inventory, all while upholding strong safety, environmental, and customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements while performing IT-related work on site
- Provide technical support by troubleshooting hardware, software, network and system-related issues for field and site-based employees across administrative, operational and remote work environments
- Respond to and resolve IT service requests and incidents in a timely and professional manner through the ticketing system
- Assist with the setup, configuration, deployment and maintenance of computers, laptops, mobile devices and peripheral equipment
- Assist with maintaining IT inventory, asset tracking, and equipment lifecycle management
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering (Computer or Software)
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking concepts, and software troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 applications
- Previous work experience in a technical environment is considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the co-op is required
