The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Supervisor Industrial Technology Projects to join our IT Operations & Projects team in Sudbury, ON/ St. John's NFLD
As the Supervisor Industrial Technology Projects, you will lead and oversee the delivery of industrial and operational technology projects supporting Vale Base Metals operations across Canada and international sites. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of technology initiatives, leading a team of project professionals, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives and technology standards.
This role offers the opportunity to work with innovative technologies including Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), industrial networks, cybersecurity, environmental and geotechnical monitoring, predictive maintenance, autonomous and tele-remote systems, equipment monitoring, mining intelligence, and Industry 4.0 solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Portfolio Management
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of industrial technology projects from initiation through implementation and transition to operations.
- Manage project portfolios, business demand intake, prioritization, scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Monitor project scope, cost, schedule, quality, risks, dependencies, and performance metrics.
- Ensure alignment with business objectives, IT strategy, governance standards, and Vale Production System (VPS) practices.
- Develop and maintain roadmaps, business cases, dashboards, KPIs, and performance reporting.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, analysts, engineers, and project resources.
- Provide leadership in project planning, resource management, financial management, contract administration, and risk management.
- Build strong partnerships with operational leaders, technology teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence.
Technical Solution Delivery
- Oversee the deployment of industrial and operational technology solutions across mining and processing operations.
- Collaborate with IT and OT teams to define technical architectures, standards, and implementation strategies.
- Ensure technology solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and operationally sustainable.
- Support technology evaluations, pilot programs, proofs of concept, and innovation initiatives.
Risk, Compliance & Financial Management
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, and cost control activities.
- Identify and mitigate cybersecurity, operational, regulatory, and project delivery risks.
- Ensure compliance with technology, security, safety, and risk management standards.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning for critical operational technologies.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, system integrators, and service providers.
- Ensure contractors and partners consistently meet Vale safety, quality, and performance expectations.
- Support procurement activities, contract management, and service transitions across business units and regions.
About You
Education
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
Experience
- 11 to 15 years of progressive experience in project delivery, industrial technology, operational technology (OT), or related technology environments.
- Experience leading technology projects within mining, metals processing, logistics, geology, or other heavy industrial environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams, stakeholders, vendors, and complex project portfolios.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid delivery models.
- Experience with industrial technology, OT, IIoT, infrastructure, automation, industrial networking, and cybersecurity.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong financial, contract, risk, and portfolio management capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex business and technical challenges in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to influence decisions and drive results across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, Scrum Master, ITIL, ISA/IEC 62443, ISA CAP, or equivalent certifications are considered an asset
- Experience with cloud technologies, industrial cybersecurity, and Industry 4.0 initiatives is preferred.
