YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Health & Safety General Supervisor, you will be part of the Health & Safety Department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Ensure that safety standards are maintained, tracking/investigating accidents and compiling statistics;
- Responsible for induction, training, and organizing required training to meet the department standards;
- Observe and instruct on safe work practices and procedures;
- Ensure the site executes and complies with the elements of the Health and Safety Management programs;
- Prepare safety related reports and update H&S statistics;
- Assist in the planning, development and implementation of specific health and safety programs as directed;
- Develop training initiatives as part of the health, safety and wellness of the Upper Beaver H&S team;
- Identify, monitor and correct health and safety hazards;
- Provide technical advice and guidance on health and safety issues;
- Monitor employee adherence to safety regulations and enforce proper health and safety protocols;
- Promote safe and healthy working conditions and recommend ways to improve overall safety conditions by developing strategies to control risk in the workplace;
- Perform periodic site inspections in order to assess risk and ensure all safety regulations and protocols are adhered to and meet applicable safety standards;
- Understand the health and safety goals and strategies for the company and work with the HSR General Supervisor to develop targets to achieve fiscal, strategic and legislative requirements;
- Responsible and accountable for supporting operations in terms of safety meetings, huddles, develop and manage procedures and standards;
- Provide guidelines for safe work including the development and review of standards, procedures and JHA’s ensure all health and safety measures are being taken and accounted for;
- Support of inspections and audits for the HSR department, JHSC and approved request of other committees/depts that requires inspections/audits;
- Manage incident reporting and structure of incoming data;
- Capacity to development of Health and Safety standards, procedures and conducting Job Hazard Analysis;
- Ensure site compliance to local (Provincial) and National legislation;
- Ability to deliver induction and orientation of new employees;
- Inspect, audit and evaluation of health and safety management systems, workplace conditions, equipment and practices;
- Development of health and safety materials required for presentations including but not limited to videos, power points etc.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- High School Diploma;
- Degree or Diploma in OHS is considered an asset;
- A solid background in the Mining Operations or a combination of suitable experience is required;
- Working knowledge of EHS software;
- A solid knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants;
- Trade certification or designation is considered an asset;
- CRSP Designation is considered an asset;
- Train-the-Trainer certification is considered an asset;
- Leadership experience and training is considered an asset;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

- Schedule: 4/3 schedule at our Upper Beaver Mine site, in Dobie Ontario.
