Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 2 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 65 tonnes of gold. In 2025, Sepon produced 7,000 tonnes of copper and 6.0 tonnes of gold. Planned production for 2026 is over 5.7 tonnes of gold and 11,400 tonnes of copper.

Reporting to the Superintendent Metallurgy Copper, this role is responsible for the copper plant performance and needs to ensure weekly plans are adhered to and monthly targets are met. Copper leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning experience would be considered a special asset for candidates having proven success in these areas. Additionally, experience in crushing, grinding, and project management are looked upon favourably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively monitoring process KPIs of the copper production circuit (from ore blend and communition to the EW tankhouse) and respond to process upsets.
  • Ensuring safe work practices are followed, leading safety incident investigations, and managing the execution of corrective actions.
  • Ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs are met and reports are generated accurately.
  • Initiating and implementing improvement ideas in safety, production, and cost.
  • Leading commissioning and operational readiness of the projects being executed by the Engineering team.
  • Liaising with Operation and Maintenance teams to ensure daily targets are met, and action plans are in place to respond to risks and bottlenecks.
  • Participating in budget and forecast development.
  • Conducting statistical analysis and developing test work programs to help securing capital funds for expansion projects.
  • Leading and mentoring copper metallurgists and graduates.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical, or Chemical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in mineral processing, preferably copper.
  • A detailed understanding of metallurgical accounting, budget and forecast model, and the life of mine planning process.
  • Project and time management skills; speed in execution is highly valued at Sepon.
  • Practical experience with ICAM, RCA, and Lean-Six Sigma methodologies.
  • High proficiency in verbal and written communications especially in English.
  • Detailed technical knowledge and practical experience in milling, floatation, leaching, roasting, and electrowinning processes.
  • Experience in production planning, metallurgical accounting, and process control automation.
