The Opportunity: Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Mine Dry Attendant at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off (12 hour days).

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Mine Dry Attendant is responsible for providing janitorial and sanitation maintenance of the Mine Dry and general labour duties, as assigned, in a safe and efficient manner to avoid injury to themselves or others, or damage to the equipment, other property or to the environment. This is an entry level position with opportunity for growth within the Company.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Demonstrate commitment to adhere to all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of others
  • Sanitation and general maintenance of the mine dry facility daily
  • Clean men's/women's change rooms and laundry room daily
  • Escort transport vehicles and personnel to/from the workplace
  • Garbage runs to General Waste area
  • Assist in cleaning/maintaining mine cap lamps, self-rescuers and respirators in clean and working manner
  • Perform thorough pre-starts on any vehicle/equipment being used
  • Provide assistance with other departments as needed
  • Maintain and demonstrate a professional and courteous relationship with employees, subcontractors, the client and all other personnel
  • Understand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areas
  • Other duties may be assigned by your Supervisor, as required

Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Prior camp work experience preferred
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License; manual transmission experience preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essential
  • Proven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • Must have good radio etiquette and strong communications skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow

Work Conditions
  • Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis, typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off - working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
  • Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
