Job Description

The Mining Planner Work Management is responsible for ensuring that the Mining Process operates effectively and safely during a day shift and that the mine operates safely and effectively on night shift with a time frame of 1-2 years. The Work Management Planner is also responsible to identify all work (on a task level) and duration thereof, as well as do the planning and ensure that these tasks are fed to the Work Management Scheduler to schedule all activities.

Mining, Planning and Controlling
  • Execute the "Plan Work" element of the Work Management Framework.
  • Comply with quality specifications and authority levels set out in the documentation.
  • Review the Work Order Task Status Report daily: To assist in prioritizing planning work/ To track upcoming work
  • Plan approved work orders (within area of responsibility) for resource procurement and execution prior to the Required by Date.
  • Encourage contribution of planning details from those expected to do the work.
  • Incorporate crew input into planning packages.
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful planning of work orders for completion by their required by Date.
  • Plan work to minimize the impact on operating performance without exceeding the required by Date for work completion.
  • Plan work to minimize the demand for resources without exceeding the required by Date for work completion.
  • Comply with applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Develop and use standard jobs to improve the efficiency of the planning process.
  • Exhibit effective Team Leadership and Team Membership behaviors.
  • Ensure that material usage is to standard
  • Monitor contractor work
  • Perform after hours standby duties
  • Initiate and monitor improvements projects

Planning
  • Routine work approval - support FLM (Mine Overseer) in preparation of Pre-planning management routine
  • Accountable for the collecting and collating of information required as per the Business Unit specific Pre-Planning guidelines.
  • Accountable for the work package (Work Management Design Principles and Configuration) creation of all approved work, inclusive of: ADHOC, WSS, and where required Urgent Work.
  • Discuss any ongoing problems as well as recovery plans if not performing against plan and provide recommendations for improvement and monitor any actions required to get back on plan.
  • Optimize the planning process to minimize changes and variability and maximise stability
  • Inspect work areas in mine to assess if any safety concerns and provide feedback to Mine Overseer and develop action plan and implement to resolve any concerns. Monitor and follow up to ensure concerns addressed
  • Ensure mining work packages are fully planned daily, providing scheduling tasks to Work Management Schedulers
  • Review the Work Order Task Report daily to assist in prioritising the planning work and track upcoming work
  • Plan approved work orders for resource allocation and execution prior to Required Date.
  • Develop and use standard job templates to improve the efficiency of the planning process
  • Support the work management process by identifying that all required resources for approved work are identified on the work order
  • Conformance to standards
  • Reliability and updated planning systems
  • Compliance with 6-week integrated schedule

Technical Integrity of Mine Planning
  • Ensure efficient mining operational execution by maintaining conformance to all mine planning related standards.
  • Adherence to cost budget control requirements.
  • Maintain and control planning standards, practices to comply with the necessary legislation and regulations.
  • Meet mining objectives by ensuring all planning systems are up to date and aligned with the 12Month plan and the Quarter plan.
  • Within areas of responsibility, ensure staff and contractors are aware of and comply with:
  • Applicable statutory acts and regulations,
  • Industry & company codes of conduct.


Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • MRM Qualification and or Equivalent
  • Business Analytics and or Project Management
