Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
About The Role
Schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off - 12 hours / day. Tuesday travel in, Wednesday first working day

Position Overview
The Civil Engineering Co-Op Student (Projects) position offers an exciting opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in an active mining environment, with learning and growth opportunities in the areas of mine infrastructure project management, tailings dam raise construction, and mine reclamation and closure. The opportunity is available on a fly-in-flyout (FIFO) rotation, working 12 hour days on two weeks on two weeks off schedule, for an either 4-month, 8-month, 12month, or 16-month term beginning in Fall 2026. Applicants are to outline their term availability on both resume and cover letter submissions.
The successful candidate is expected to embody Coeur Mining's purpose statement, "we pursue a higher standard," and values of protecting our people, places, and planet; developing quality resources, growth, and plans; and delivering impactful results through teamwork. The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to, and compliance with, all company and industry Health & Safety, Environmental, Social Responsibility, and Code of Conduct policies and is responsible for engaging their work with the Courage to Care, meaning never compromising on safety, looking out for one another, and stopping work if it is not safe.
The Civil Engineering Co-Op Student (Projects) will report to the Projects Technical Supervisor who will direct work assignments in field and office. Field and office assignments will include providing field supervision for construction contractors, completing engineered design reviews, project estimating, scheduling, coordination, quality control inspection, progress measurement, reporting, and administration as well as other duties as assigned. Tasks and assignments will be varied for student exposure across Capital Projects and the Coeur Rainy River Mine site including exposure to other business areas where possible. Field work may occur in all weather conditions. The Civil Engineering Co-Op Student (Projects) will work from the main site administration office in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $55,000.00 -$74,000.00.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong commitment and adherence to all Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Demonstrate strong commitment and adherence to all Code of Conduct Policies.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude with enthusiasm and eagerness to learn cross-functional department areas.
- Work alongside the Project Coordinators in the planning and delivery of site capital projects.
- Work collaboratively with a variety of industry professionals across construction and technical disciplines.
- Prepare project lifecycle documentation through project initiation, planning, execution, controlling, and closure.
- Assist in project estimating, scheduling, coordination, quality control, and progress monitoring and reporting.
- Assist in project engineering design reviews and assist in managing design changes in field through RFIs.
- Assist in the management and coordination of site contractors and consultants as required.
- Assist in department administration and reporting as required.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian-accredited undergraduate engineering program and returning to studies.
- Civil or Mining Engineering programs are preferred but are not required for consideration.
- Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude contributing to a high-performance workplace culture.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, a team player across a multi-disciplinary dynamic team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across communication mediums.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills across projects, priorities, and disciplines.
- Proficiency in computer-based software (Microsoft Suite, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and others).
- Ability to work a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) rotation in an active mining and camp environment.
- Ability to change and re-prioritize tasks as new information is gathered or plans and priorities change.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently or collaborate within multi-disciplinary groups.
- Previous experience in construction or mining environments with heavy equipment is considered advantageous.
- Previous experience in construction trades or labour environments is considered advantageous.
Working Conditions
- Field 60% & Office 40%
- Occasional moderate lifting required (50 lbs)
Compensation
