YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Environment Supervisor, you will be a part of the Environment Department and collaborate with other departments of the mine. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
- Oversee the implementation of inspections and audits of the site environmental management system (EMS) and report non-compliances;
- Carryout tasks required to maintain compliance with environmental regulations, including compliance inspections, compliance sampling, environmental monitoring, and worker education;
- Coordinate with operations staff to ensure environmental management plans are followed;
- Maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment;
- Compile environmental monitoring data for regulatory reporting requirements;
- Collect field data in remote locations in diverse environmental conditions on surface and underground;
- Implement Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) requirements and procedures;
- Liaise with external laboratories to ensure the timely receipt of samples
- Mentor and train new departmental staff;
- Work safely, effectively, independently, and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Environmental Studies, or equivalent qualifications and experience;
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in the environmental monitoring field or a similar;
- Experience or willingness to learn techniques for collecting environmental monitoring data including; water, air, dust, soil, noise and waste;
- Experience with data acquisition, data management, and quality control;
- Experience or willingness to learn techniques for design and implementation of erosion and sedimentation controls;
- Comfortable communicating compliance initiatives to operations staff;
- Must possess be detail oriented with good analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Experience operating boats, snowmobiles, and ATVs;
- Must have a valid driver’s license;
- Capable of working in a multicultural environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing grade on a Speexx English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
