To fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain steel structures, platework, pipework, pressure vessels and tanks to required standards in a multi-discipline workshop and site environment. This role requires working safely within a shared workshop alongside mechanical fitters, E&I technicians and rubber liners
TASK DESCRIPTION EXPANDED TO CORE PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Interpret and work from fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, and WPS documents.
- Mark out, measure, cut, bend, roll and assemble steel plate, pipes, and structural sections.
- Fit-up pipe spools, vessels, tanks, chutes, ducting, and structural steel to the required tolerances.
- Use jigs, fixtures, clamps, chains, and overhead cranes for safe assembly.
- Install pressure vessels, tanks, conveyors, and associated steelwork on site.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on worn equipment: patching, plating, replacing sections.
- Carry out hot work under Permit to Work system in shared workshop.
- Strict compliance with HSE rules: hot work, LOTOTO, confined space, working at heights.
- Maintain 5S housekeeping in shared workshop zones to prevent trip hazards and contamination.
- Check material traceability, fit-up tolerances, and report NCRs.
- Operate oxy-acetylene cutting, plasma cutters, gouging equipment, and hand tools safely.
- Perform pre-use checks on grinders, drill and lifting equipment.
- Coordinate daily with welders, fitters, and E&I to avoid conflicting work in shared space.
- Complete work orders, material requests and inspection checklists.
- Mentor and train national boilermakers on safe fit-up and plate work technique.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
- Trade Certificate/Diploma in Boiler making/Fabrication Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Any safety certification will be an added advantage
Working Experience – Nature & Length
- Minimum 5 years post trade experience in heavy industry: mining, power or construction as a boilermaker
- Willingness to work in a diverse environment
- Plate rolling, pipefitting, tank/vessel repair, structural steel erection.
- Use of measuring tools, Vernier, tape, laser alignment, straight edge.
Confined space entry and working at heights certification.
