Purpose of Role:
The Senior Hydrogeologist will lead the project's hydrogeological initiatives, develop advanced conceptual and numerical models and collaborate closely with our geotechnical, geological, and mine planning teams. The work environment provides diverse, dynamic experience working with various professionals from different departments, with responsibilities both in-office and on-site.

Purpose of Role:
The Senior Hydrogeologist will lead the project's hydrogeological initiatives, develop advanced conceptual and numerical models and collaborate closely with our geotechnical, geological, and mine planning teams. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Work with hydrogeologists, geochemists, and geotechnical engineers to develop conceptual site models, develop analytical and numerical models of unsaturated and saturated groundwater flow, and design evapotranspiration cover systems.
- Develop mine water management approaches, including water budgets, mine dewatering, waste-material impoundments, and groundwater containment/mitigation.
- Work with internal teams and external experts to deliver safe, responsible, and innovative solutions.
- Attend meetings and interface seamlessly with clients, agencies, external consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, and/or vendors.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) for hydrogeological data, your own projects, and peers' projects.
- Review and oversee advanced borehole testing (such as packer, airlift, pump, and injection tests) and piezometer installations.
- Prepare, review, and summarize complex technical reports.
- Support other projects inside the USBU.
- Complete workplace examinations to identify safety hazards and ensure all field investigations are conducted safely.
- Contribute to an innovative and collaborative work environment where creativity is valued and encouraged.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members and technicians and support the hiring of new talent.
- Regular travel to and from the Copper World site.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Education and Experience
- A minimum of an M.S. in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geochemistry, or a related engineering/science discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of work experience in mining, consulting, and regulatory environments, regularly developing or utilizing unsaturated and saturated flow models, is preferred.
- Existing professional registration or ability to work towards a professional registration (PG or PE).
- Previous direct experience at a mine site is highly preferred.
Capabilities and Credentials
- Expertise in Water Balance.
- Expertise in saturated flow modeling using MODFLOW and/or FEFLOW.
- Strong expertise and the ability to lead projects.
- Experience in preparing proposals and presentations.
- Proven ability to mentor junior to mid-level staff effectively.
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects or tasks concurrently consistently.
- Ability to manage time, be highly organized, and set priorities.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely, data-driven decisions.
- Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced mining environment.
- Be a proactive driver of a positive, team-oriented work environment.
