Reporting to: Development Superintendent
Duration: Fixed Term
Responsibilities:
- Operate tele-remote underground mobile equipment, including Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) loaders and haul trucks, in accordance with underground mine operating procedures.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and report equipment defects.
- Monitor equipment performance using tele-remote systems and onboard technologies.
- Maintain production targets while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Operate equipment safely in accordance with Ground Control, Traffic Management, and Critical Risk Management standards.
- Communicate effectively with Mine Control, Supervisors, and Maintenance personnel.
- Report hazards, incidents, and equipment abnormalities promptly.
- Participate in shift handovers, toolbox meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate production and operational records.
- Perform Towing/ Recovery activities
- Coach and mentor trainees on LH307, LH410, LH514 Sandvik Loaders as well as Remote operation
- Assist with the training and skills development of trainees.
- To provide technical, practical and field support in various working areas of the underground mine focusing on increasing work effectiveness and productivity while lowering cost through improved good operational practices
- Qualification in Mining or similar technical qualification that is supported by practical work experience in mining.
- Candidates should have exposure to automation within the underground environment.
- Time management, scheduling, and planning.
- Hazard identification and Risk assessment
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as tele-remote loader operator
- Experience in operating machines in large underground mining operations
- Demonstrate ability to achieve 400t/hr on remotes of LH410 across a 12hr shift.
- Exposure to automation.
- Demonstrated ability in training operators in use of tele remote loader operation
