New Porgera Limited, a leading name in the mining industry, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Scaffolder to assist the Scaffolders in handling scaffolds within the Fixed Plant Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient setup and dismantling of scaffolding structures within our mining site.

In this role, you will:
  • Supporting the work of the scaffolder
  • Carrying, declaring and clearing scaffolding material
  • Tidies up the workplace or house keeping
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on scaffolding equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in the construction, assembly, maintaining and dismantling of tubular scaffolding
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations during scaffolding operations.
  • Identifying the risks in their work area and using the correct controls.
  • Reporting to the Supervisor immediately any actual or potential unsafe conditions or activities, mishaps, incidents, accidents, injuries or illnesses in the work place.
  • Using personal protective clothing or equipment as provided.
  • Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures.


About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
  • Minimum of Grade 10 or above Education level
  • Proven experience as a Scaffolding in building complex and hanging, preferably in a mining or heavy equipment environment.
  • Strong understanding of scaffolding techniques and safety procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical manuals and specifications.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Safety hazard awareness in JHA or JSA, Zero Tasol, Take 5, FLRA, Risk Assessments
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National Award position, a site-based role on a Walk in Walk out arrangement with rotation of 20 days on and 8 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Must a be Local Porgeran (Cat 1A - SML, Cat 1B -LMP or Cat 2 - Other Porgera) candidate and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
